I came across a really fun find that I couldn’t resist as soon as I saw it!
An upcycled magazine mirror that was beautifully and meticulously handmade. (I wish I made it myself but I admit that I probably don’t have the patience for it!)
The layering of the colorful magazine pages give the frame a sculptural quality.
The pages (sometimes folded and sometimes rolled) were artfully applied to form a spiral frame around the mirror.
Now this vibrant and playful “color wheel” has found a perfect home in my workshop. It is fitting in quite nicely too!
I’m going to try & make one of these
It was great to see it in person!
I painted as soon as I got home! I had this little night table (that I had bought in target for my son’s playroom 3 years ago) & it was navy blue. I put one coat of the duck egg blue, then I mixed (for fun) 3 parts duckegg & part old white & did a second coat with that. The stuff is awesome! I did the x’s as I was painting…forget what you called it but I cannot believe how smooth the stuff dries! It’s unbelievable! Anyway, I sanded the edges to make a worn look & the navy showing through actually looks pretty cool ! Tomorrow I’ll give the waxes a try on it
Good meeting you!
You go girl! Looking forward to your upcycle magazine project! I enjoyed your visit today and love your blog. Can’t wait to see the night table!!!!!
OMG, I wish I had instructions on how to make this!!!
Me too! I noticed that instructables.com had some how to’s on making a magazine bowl and coasters. Maybe there is a how-to somewhere out there!
Love, Love that mirror! What a find. If anyone find the directions on how to make it let us all in on it.
Looks like I will just have to make another visit to see it in person.
I can’t tell for certain, but there may be some underlying cardboard frame or form that the magazine pieces are applied to….hmmm. Hopefully someone will figure it out and share!
